Our preference is to compare the same deliverables, not turn this number into a universal range. A lower artist-only fee can require more production hire; an equipment-inclusive package can still leave major event costs outside it. At those advertised starting inputs, DJ plus basic sound is AED 3,500. That is our arithmetic, not a final quote, a guaranteed price for your event or a touring-headliner fee.
Compare that scope with the dated Darryl Rees reference above, which includes his specified equipment. Do not treat “basic sound” as proof that two suppliers provide identical speakers, lighting, crew or venue coverage. Ask both to price the same set length and the venue’s actual equipment gap, with applicable charges and extras stated. If the venue already supplies suitable sound, price the DJ-only route instead of automatically adding another system. The useful comparison is the complete agreed job, not a claimed saving between unlike offers; neither supplier has been booked or tested for this guide.

Establish who is the responsible applicant before the venue or artist deposits fall due. The page says an application is considered only after full payment has been acknowledged; paying is not itself an issued permit. Have the responsible applicant check the actual official portal requirements—do not assume a supplier quote or a payment receipt is approval to stage the event.

Ask the venue and organiser to identify applicable charges and who bears them, including any taxes, ticketing costs, payment fees and supplier add-ons. Worked budget example — illustrative figures, not an artist quote: Suppose fixed event costs are AED 150,000, contracted sponsorship is AED 50,000, net ticket receipts are AED 300 per paying attendee and variable costs are AED 50 per paying attendee. The contribution per paid ticket is AED 250. Break-even paid attendance is therefore (150,000 − 50,000) ÷ (300 − 50) = 400 paid admissions.
At 400 paid admissions, net ticket receipts total AED 120,000. Add AED 50,000 sponsorship for AED 170,000 receipts. Fixed costs of AED 150,000 plus AED 20,000 attendee-related costs also total AED 170,000. The model balances. It does not predict demand or establish a real DJ fee, and it works only when those income and cost assumptions are correct.
To use the example, replace every figure with the actual quotes and contracted income. Separate net ticket receipts from advertised ticket prices after payment and ticketing deductions. Include complimentary attendees, uncertain sponsorship, any revenue-sharing agreement and capacity constraints in your own model. The calculation is (fixed costs minus sponsorship) divided by (net ticket receipts minus attendee-related variable cost), rounded up to a whole paid admission. It assumes a positive contribution per ticket and excludes any cost not entered into the model. The no-sponsor case is especially useful: a proposal is not contracted income, and contracted income is not always cash available before deposits fall due.
