Dibba is split three ways, which is a strange thing anywhere in the world. The old port sits in Sharjah, the town immediately south belongs to Fujairah, and the bay to the north is Omani territory entirely. Long before that division, this same stretch of coast was the site of the Battle of Dibba in 632–633 CE, a decisive Ridda Wars clash that opened the wider region to the early Islamic caliphate.

Getting your bearings in Dibba
The town sits at the northern tip of the east coast, straddling the Fujairah and Musandam boundary, with a harbour that serves as the springboard for fjord cruises.
Musandam, the “Norway of Arabia”
Musandam’s jagged, fjord-cut coastline has earned it that nickname, and Dibba is the easiest jumping-off point for it. Traditional dhow cruises run several hours through Khor Sham’s channels, past fishing villages and rocky islands, with dolphins a regular sighting alongside the boat.
