H&M’s own announcement confirms the reopening and ribbon-cutting; contemporary coverage identifies Summer, then ten, alongside her mother.
For me, the appeal is the contrast: Aguilera dressed for a full pop-star entrance, while Summer’s casual outfit made the photograph feel like two people choosing their own clothes, not a matching-costume campaign. That is a reading of the public styling, not a claim to know either person’s private feelings.
The event: a 2024 store reopening
H&M marked the reopening of its flagship at 1472 Broadway, New York, with Aguilera cutting the ribbon at noon. The brand’s 21 November 2024 announcement ties the opening to its Studio Holiday Capsule and a redesigned retail space.
The launch included fitting rooms with changeable visual and music settings. I find that more informative than calling the appearance a vague “new era”: it explains what the store was promoting and why a performer associated with stage image suited the occasion. The holiday collection and opening-day availability belong to 2024. A circulating photograph is not evidence that the same clothes remain in stock in the UAE or that the original US launch price is a current local price. I like the adult look because one bright element does the work. The gold is the focal point; the black layers stop every piece competing for attention. The long coat also changes the proportions around the short hemline. That is the styling idea I would borrow—not a rule that everyone needs the same shorts or boots.
For a less theatrical version, I would keep a single metallic accent and build around darker pieces already in the wardrobe. That is my adaptation, not another item Aguilera was photographed wearing. Summer’s separate casual look does not need to be treated as a prediction of a career in fashion or entertainment.
The family moment, without reading minds
Summer is Aguilera’s daughter with Matt Rutler. The public appearance gives this story its family connection; it does not establish how often she attends events, what she thought of the attention or what she plans to do as an adult. On 18 August 2026, The National reported Ticketmaster’s cancellation notice for the 25 September Etihad Arena show, with no replacement date announced in that notice. Older rescheduling announcements and package pages are not proof that the cancelled show went ahead.

The strong story is a distinctive adult party look beside a child’s very different casual one.
