The important distinction is no longer just where Etihad Rail plans to stop. It is which passenger stations you can plan a journey from now, and which belong to a later phase. As checked on 17 October 2026, the operator’s passenger website lists Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah and Al Dhaid stations. Sharjah remains a later phase in the published rollout timetable.
Use the official station directory and journey planner for your travel date. This guide separates the current passenger listing from the wider announced network, then explains how to turn a station name into a workable door-to-door trip.

These names are taken from the passenger network page, not inferred from a freight map. A listing does not mean every departure, seat or fare will be available on every day. The date-specific journey search is the final check before you build plans around a particular train.
The full announced network: 11 cities and regions
Etihad Rail’s 8 January 2026 announcement described an 11-location passenger network: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah, plus Al Sila’, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Faya and Al Dhaid. The announcement explicitly said stations would become operational in phases. It was not a statement that all eleven were already carrying passengers.
Older reporting also uses local area names for the main city stations. When searching or arranging a pickup, use the name, map pin and entrance instructions on the current passenger site. An announced area is not a sufficiently precise meeting point.
Published opening phases—not one launch date for every station
The operator’s passenger service overview publishes this sequence. Dates later than this guide’s check date remain planned openings, not evidence of completed operations.

This is why a broad “full stations list” can mislead a commuter. A future station may be confirmed as part of the network without being a usable departure point today. Do not assume that all locations within a named later phase will appear in the booking system at once.
Dubai station: the practical details
The official Dubai Station page places it at Jumeirah Golf Estates and lists opening hours of 05:00–23:00, Monday to Sunday. Listed facilities include parking, ticket machines, waiting areas, toilets, a bus stop, taxi/e-hailing facilities and a transfer bridge to the Metro. Check that page again before travelling: station opening hours are not a promise of continuous train departures.
For a first visit, save the railway station’s own directions. A navigation search for Jumeirah Golf Estates can point to a residential entrance, golf club or Metro destination rather than the entrance you need. If another person is dropping you off, share the exact pin and agree a pickup point for the return.
A Metro connection helps only if it fits your actual departure and arrival times. Work backwards from the train you want, allow for the transfer inside the station, and check the operating hours of the other service separately. Do not treat an interchange icon as a guarantee that a late train connects with the last Metro.
How to check tickets and train times
- Open the Etihad Rail journey planner or the official passenger website, and select the actual origin and destination stations.
- Enter your travel date and passenger details. Check the outbound and return journeys separately before paying.
- Read the offered departure, arrival, ticket conditions and total price. Do not substitute a headline starting fare for a quote for your own journey.
- Check boarding instructions, accepted ticket format, identification requirements and the time you need to arrive before departure.
- On the day, consult the live schedule and any operator notifications rather than relying on a saved screenshot from an earlier search.

Compare the whole journey, not just the time on the train
A train can be an attractive inter-emirate option without being the quickest choice for every door-to-door journey. Add the trip to the departure station, the time needed before boarding, the rail journey and the onward leg. Repeat that calculation for the return, especially if you are planning an evening out.

For a regular commute, test one real weekday itinerary on paper before assuming the station solves the whole journey. For a weekend trip, fix the return first if missing it would leave you with an expensive alternative. These checks are more useful than an unpriced claim that every rail trip saves a particular amount in petrol or tolls.
Shuttles are not extra railway stations
The passenger network page separately lists shuttle/bus points, including Reem Mall–Al Reem Island, ADNEC Center–Al Rawdah and ADNOC Headquarters–Corniche. Keep that distinction when sharing an itinerary: a connection point is not necessarily where you board the train.
Check whether the connection you need is included, separately booked or separately charged, where it departs and what happens if your train changes. We have not verified a universal shuttle fare, timetable or through-ticket arrangement, so none is assumed here.
What to expect onboard—and what to check yourself
Etihad Rail’s passenger overview describes reserved seating, Wi-Fi and power at seats. For your own journey, check the seat and product actually offered. Do not infer a three-class fare structure or a particular lounge benefit from older launch coverage.
- Confirm current luggage allowances before bringing large cases or equipment.
- Ask about accessibility, mobility aids and assistance that you specifically need.
- Read the rules for children, identification and accompanying passengers in the booking terms.
- Keep the booking confirmation and operator contact details accessible for the return.
