Compare the Polaroid x Pokémon Now and Go formats, compatible film, included accessories and dated UAE refill-price checks before choosing a camera or collector bundle.

Key Takeaways

  • The Polaroid x Pokémon collection marks Pokémon’s 30th anniversary with three camera designs, themed film and accessories.
  • The lineup includes a Poké Ball Polaroid Now Camera and pocket-sized Polaroid Go models themed after Pikachu and Sylveon.
  • The collection includes themed instant film packs, unique dark slides, and practical accessories like a camera case and mini photo album.
  • The pre-order and release dates have passed; check current model-specific stock, market pricing and film compatibility.
  • This collaboration appeals to ‘kidult’ trends, transforming functional cameras into collectible keepsakes.

Choose the Polaroid before the Pokémon. The Poké Ball Now and the smaller Pikachu and Sylveon Go cameras make charmingly different objects, but they also use different film formats. I’d pick the print size and refill cost first, then the character I love. Otherwise the most exciting unboxing can end with a film pack that will not fit.

My verdict: the character is the fun part; film decides the budget

The collaboration has real gift appeal, especially for someone who wants physical photographs rather than another camera roll on a phone. I’d make the first box usable: correct camera, compatible film and clear expectations about refill cost. A themed frame is not an extra exposure, and a collector design is not a reason to pay an unexamined resale premium. The refill budget below is the buying detail worth keeping: paying for film happens a whole pack at a time, not one photograph at a time.

Polaroid called it its biggest collaboration in the 18 August 2026 announcement. That is the brand’s description, not a comparison of sales or a reason to pay a collector premium. The more useful distinction is what you will shoot on: full-size Now film or the smaller Go format.

The camera lineup: Poké Ball, Pikachu, and Sylveon

The collection features three hardware models. There is the full-sized Polaroid Now Camera (Generation 3) in a Poké Ball pattern, alongside two pocket-sized Polaroid Go (Generation 3) models styled after Pikachu and Sylveon.

The Polaroid Now carries the Poké Ball design across the chassis. It is for those wanting a standard instant camera with a high-visibility look.

The Pikachu and Sylveon versions use the smaller Polaroid Go Generation 3 system. The Generation 3 label identifies the model; it does not mean every Polaroid camera has the same controls, film or features. Choose by the actual model specification and size rather than assume the character design changes the film system.

Film and accessories

The drop includes custom instant film packs with themed frames and unique dark slides. Accessories include a protective Polaroid Go camera case, a matching mini photo album, and a universal camera strap.

The collection includes themed i-Type film for the larger format and Pokémon Go film packs for the smaller cameras. These are not interchangeable simply because they share the collaboration branding. Each pack includes a Pokémon-themed darkslide, but the camera’s required film format is the important first check. A frame you like is no use if the pack cannot fit your camera.

The accessories are practical. The Polaroid Go case protects the smaller cameras, while the mini photo album is designed specifically for Go prints. A universal camera strap completes the set.

Pricing and release dates for UAE collectors

Polaroid’s launch announcement set pre-orders for 25 August 2026 and release for 5 October. Those dates are now past. Use a current listing for the exact model, its market, stock and delivered price. The previous AED 55–515 estimates were not a verified UAE price list. An overseas retail amount converted into dirhams does not establish local stock, warranty arrangements or final delivery cost.

There is no basis for assuming every buyer who missed pre-orders must now pay resale prices. Check official and authorised stock before comparing a reseller’s offer. For a camera, confirm the generation and complete edition name; for film, confirm the format and pack contents. A collector box can be appealing, but it should not distract from whether you have a usable camera and a reliable source of compatible film.

The smaller accessories can appeal if you want the Pokémon design without another camera. Check what the chosen bundle already includes: Polaroid’s Now Pokémon edition includes a custom wrist strap, so an additional strap is a choice rather than a compulsory extra. An album sold for Go photographs also has a specific print format; do not assume it fits the larger Now prints.

A UAE refill check: count photographs, not frame designs

On 21 October 2026, Geekay’s UAE i-Type listing displayed AED 109 for eight photographs and was marked out of stock online, with an option to ask in-store. It lists 18 possible frame designs: that does not mean 18 photographs in the box or a complete set of designs in one pack. We have not confirmed branch stock or completed an order.

At that advertised amount, AED 109 ÷ 8 is approximately AED 13.63 per exposure, before any separately charged delivery. That is a budgeting calculation, not a guaranteed cost per usable image: an unsuccessful exposure still consumes film. Compare delivered price divided by the actual exposure count, then check compatibility. A Go double pack is a different product from an eight-shot i-Type pack; the pictured Sylveon Go box is marked 16 photographs.

What a whole-pack film budget actually buys

I would budget for the photographs I want to attempt, not just the attractive price on the camera box. Using the dated AED 109 eight-shot i-Type listing above, here is our calculation. It applies to that film format only, not the smaller Go double pack.

Planned exposuresWhole eight-shot packs neededFilm budget at AED 109 per pack
243 packs: 24 exposuresAED 327
10013 packs: 104 exposuresAED 1,417

The hundred-shot plan needs rounding up: twelve packs provide only 96 exposures. The four spare exposures in thirteen packs are not four guaranteed successful pictures. These are conditional planning totals before delivery, not an available-stock claim, a completed purchase or a promise of 100 usable photographs. More film also does not guarantee a complete set of the 18 frame designs; the listing does not promise a particular distribution. For a gift, I would secure compatible film before treating the camera as ready to use.

The official US-region collection page is not a UAE stock checker. Its darkslide promotion requires five scans for a code offering one free eligible film pack with the purchase of five matching eligible packs. It is not five free packs or an unconditional gift. The page currently states one reward per person, a code expiry one month after issue and a promotion running from 28 September 2026 to 31 January 2027. Check the applicable terms and delivery eligibility before buying extra film for it; I would not include a promotional reward in a UAE budget until eligibility is established.

Lifestyle impact

This collaboration turns functional cameras into character-driven keepsakes. Polaroid is tapping into the ‘kidult’ trend, making these items desirable for Pokémon fans and those who value aesthetic analog tools.

For a collector, presentation and character design may be part of the appeal. For someone who wants to take photographs, the refill format and recurring cost are harder to ignore. Decide whether this is a display purchase, a gift that needs film immediately, or a camera you intend to keep using; the right basket is different for each.

Our pick is the camera format you will actually use, then the character design. Choose a Now if you want its larger print format; choose a Go for the smaller system and its character styling. Budget for repeat film purchases as well as the initial camera. The collaboration is a reason to enjoy the object, not evidence of a future resale return or a need to rush an unverified UAE listing.

Polaroid’s Now product page lists i-Type and 600 film compatibility, autofocus, self-timer and double-exposure modes. Its box contents list the camera, strap and guides, so do not assume film comes with every purchase unless the particular bundle says so. For UAE ordering, check the seller’s delivery country, warranty and return terms; a country-specific official shop page does not promise shipping everywhere.
