The story of FIX Dubai chocolate, Sarah Hamouda and chef Nouel Catis, plus the official ordering route and a practical price-and-provenance comparison.

Decide what you want before ordering Dubai chocolate: the original FIX bar, or simply a good pistachio-kunafa chocolate from another maker. Those are different shopping questions. The crunchy filling explains the appeal, but it does not authenticate a brand. For FIX in Dubai, use its official Careem route; for another chocolatier, judge that bar on its own label, weight, ingredients and price.

My buying verdict: choose provenance or flavour—then compare fairly

I’d buy the original when the brand’s story is part of the gift. If the recipient simply loves pistachio and crisp pastry, another openly labelled version is a legitimate option, not automatically a fake. The bright-green cross-section is the least useful authenticity check. Use the actual seller, read the allergens and compare the delivered cost. The dated arithmetic below shows how to do that without turning an old launch price into today’s quote.

For context, see the wider Dubai chocolate viral story. For another food-related story where an announcement and an operating venue must stay distinct, read Manchester City Café’s Abu Dhabi opening status.

Here’s the real story behind it, what’s actually in it, and where to get your hands on the original in 2026.

Where to Find the Original in Dubai (2026)

For the original FIX bar, use the official Careem FIX page. For delivery, it identifies Careem as the exclusive channel and lists daily windows of 2pm–4pm and 5pm–9pm. Careem’s 20 October 2025 launch announcement lists bars starting at AED 68.25; check the app for the current item price, availability at your address and delivery estimate. The published windows do not guarantee that every flavour remains in stock throughout the session.

Careem’s launch instructions say to open the app, choose Quik and search for FIX Dessert Chocolatier. I would check the delivery address before choosing a flavour, then read the current item and basket total. If it is unavailable for that address or window, a lookalike website is not a sensible substitute. The 2025 announcement also mentioned an airport pop-up; that historical reference is not confirmation of a walk-in shop, today’s airport stock or access for someone without a flight.

Bright green filling and visible kataifi cannot authenticate a FIX bar: legitimate Dubai-style products and misleading copies can look similar. Verify the seller through the brand’s official ordering channel instead. A different brand openly selling pistachio-kunafa chocolate is not automatically counterfeit; the problem is falsely presenting a product as FIX or as an authorised sale. Read the brand and ingredients rather than judging authenticity by a cut-open photograph.

Where It Actually Came From

The story belongs to both a brand founder and a recipe developer. Sarah Hamouda founded FIX Dessert Chocolatier; Filipino pastry chef Nouel Catis describes developing its original recipes in his interview with Tatler Asia. The interview places the launch in 2021 and links the later surge in attention to Maria Vehera’s viral video. Crediting Hamouda’s brand without Catis’s culinary contribution leaves out an important part of the origin story. That does not make Catis’s later Sna’ap brand the same product as FIX.

What followed was the predictable side effect of any product going viral at that speed: demand massively outstripped supply, Dubai-style bars and products falsely claiming to be the original appeared in markets from London to Los Angeles, and the term “Dubai chocolate” became a whole flavour category in its own right, copied by chocolatiers, home bakers and major confectionery brands worldwide, most of whom have nothing to do with Dubai or the original bar at all.

What’s Actually in It

The description in Tatler’s interview with recipe developer Nouel Catis centres on a chocolate bar with crunchy kunafa pastry, pistachio and tahini filling. That explains the contrast between a smooth shell and crisp pastry without treating a photograph as an ingredient declaration. We have not verified the current chocolate supplier or a complete product label. For the exact bar you order, read its ingredients and allergen information; neither a general flavour description nor another maker’s recipe establishes what is in your purchase.

Why It’s Still Relevant in 2026

The useful distinction in 2026 is between provenance and flavour. A bar can be made outside Dubai and still be openly sold as Dubai-style chocolate. Conversely, a Dubai address or a photograph of green filling cannot prove that a product came from FIX. For a gift, decide whether the recipient wants the original brand or simply likes the pistachio-and-pastry combination. That choice changes which seller, ingredients and price comparison matter. I would not pay a premium simply because a seller calls something viral. Pay for the brand, ingredients, size and presentation you actually want.

The Original Bar and the Wider Trend

Our view: the combination works as a food story because it has a specific Dubai origin and a recognisable texture that other makers can interpret. The original FIX product and the wider Dubai-chocolate flavour category should be discussed separately. If you want FIX, use its official Careem channel; if you want a different maker’s version, judge that product on its own ingredients and price. There is no need to label every alternative a fake to explain what made the original notable.

Before ordering for a gift, check the chosen product’s allergen information, storage instructions and delivery arrangements. Pistachio is part of this flavour’s identity, and a green filling is not a complete ingredient list. The recipient’s needs and how the bar will be stored matter more than whether it makes a dramatic social-media photograph. For the current FIX order, use the actual listing rather than a reposted menu or a website claiming worldwide official sales.

My weight check: the lower sticker price can cost more

A hypothetical example, not two product listings: a 200g bar priced at AED 70 costs AED 35 per 100g. A 100g bar priced at AED 50 costs AED 50 per 100g. The AED 50 bar asks for less cash, but gives you half the chocolate for AED 20 less. Add each seller’s delivery and fees separately before comparing the baskets. This arithmetic does not tell you which tastes better or which one is FIX; it stops a smaller bar winning a value comparison just because its price tag is lower.

Compare the landed cost, not just the bar price

Our calculation uses the dated starting price solely to show the method. Use the current basket for an actual order. Check that the delivery address is covered before timing a gift around a published ordering window; availability is not the same as a reservation. A sensible comparison records the brand, weight, flavour and total checkout cost. For allergies, read the exact label: pistachio, sesame, milk and wheat may be relevant depending on the recipe, and an attractive cross-section is not an ingredient declaration.
